Who We Are
Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is a liberal-religious community of members and friends, located in Marysville, WA. The word “liberal-religious” does not speak of political viewpoint; rather it emphasizes the freedom of each member to develop their own religious views in the context of a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. On Sunday mornings at 10:30 am, we gather at our Fellowship on Fourth Street. We have a full program of Religious Education for Children and Youth and a worship service for adults on Sunday mornings. Depending on the week, we have about 110 to 130 attending Sunday services and about 60 children in our education programs.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a liberal religious home where people find a welcoming community, a stimulating place of learning and worship, and the challenge and support to live the Unitarian Universalist Principles and Purposes.
Our Governance
Our church operates on “congregational polity.” This means that we are not owned by any outside organization or denomination. We are free to make our own decisions and determine our own directions as a community. We believe in the right of conscience of each member (our fifth principle) and therefore support the democratic process of coming to decisions.
Our board of trustees is elected by the congregation. We have several standing committees to focus on membership, finances, building, pastoral care, worship, and the like. (See also our Organization Chart... TBA)
Our Minister and Staff
Evergreen’s minister is the Rev. Bruce Davis. We also have a Director of Lifelong Learning for our children and adult educational programming, a Director of Music who directs the Evergreen Choir, and our Administrator. The role of minister and staff is to provide facilitative leadership for Evergreen and to help us to grow personally and spiritually.
