Welcome

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship online. We are a welcoming and affirming, fun-loving, creative, inquiring, socially-conscientious community.  All who come with open minds and caring hearts are welcome.  We value the richness which diversity brings to our congregation, including differences of age, race, sexual orientation, social class, and theology.

Our Purpose

To seek truth, meaning, and common purpose. To affirm positive human values, including the worth and dignity of every person, justice, equity, and compassion in human relations, and the interconnected web of existence. We do not adhere to any specific creed or dogma; we welcome a diversity of spiritual viewpoints.

Meet the Minister

We're delighted that Pastor Tom joined us as our minister in the summer of 2017.

A native of the Connecticut River Valley, he has spent much of his life exploring this continent. After attending The Evergreen State College several years ago, he's thrilled to be back in the Salish Sea Basin after a few years away.

Pastor Tom was raised Unitarian Universalist (UU), attended one of the two UU seminaries in the world, and, prior to coming here to serve Evergreen, he served UU congregations in Kingston, Duxbury, Grafton, and Brewster, Massachusetts.

He fancies himself something of a cinephile, tries to keep up with his meditation practices, and is currently studying with the Bartimaeus Institute.

Our History

The Evergreen community began in 1955, originally meeting in people’s homes and then in our own church building in Everett, Washington where we were known as the Everett UU Fellowship.   The services were primarily lay-led until 1985 when we called our first settled minister.

In 1990 we purchased the old Methodist church on 4th Street in Marysville, due to outgrowing the Everett location. Also, we changed our name to Evergreen UU Fellowship.  Here we have flourished and continue our heritage of growing our faith and serving our world.

Visitors and members find many open doors for lifelong learning at Evergreen, depending on their interests and needs. Children, youth, middle-adults, and elders learn and play together at Evergreen, sharing many facets of creativity.

Children and youth also participate in UU classes and programs that are designed to support their own forming value-systems, with the guidance of committed adults.

Evergreen members feel deeply the strife of people here and afar, and social action is an important part of our common purpose. We participate in environmental sustainability projects, in support for the homeless, in legislative advocacy, and in a wide variety of other activities that support people’s needs locally, nationally and internationally.

Music is a pathway to nourish our souls and plays an integral part in our lives. This is evident in the Evergreen experience.  Vocal and instrumental music is woven into the themes of each Sunday service as well as other activities.
