The Path to Membership
We invite you to attend our Path to Membership Class. This class is designed to help you understand UU history, traditions and values to help you get to know Evergreen. We want you to feel at home here.
This class is offered at frequent intervals following our service on a Sunday. Some people are ready to become members very quickly. Others prefer to be a part of the congregation without formal membership for a longer time. We respect your choices and consider you a valued part of the congregation either way. However, membership offers important gifts and is required to be able to vote in our democratic congregational life.
The Steps to Take:
-
We ask that you attend or have attended our Path to Membership Class. If you are unable to attend a class please let us know and we will make arrangements for an alternative discussion.
-
Meet with the minister. This is a personal meeting, either by phone or in-person, to help build the relationship between you and your minister. Reach out to Rev. Joe Rettenmaier to set up a time.
-
Make a commitment (financial pledge) to help support the Fellowship for the current church fiscal year (July - June). We also hope that you will get involved in at least one activity.
-
Fill out a Board of Trustees Affirmation card. Our Board affirms each member as they choose to join our Fellowship.
-
You’ll be invited to sign our membership book. The congregation welcomes you into full membership at our New Member Ceremony held during a service in May. There will be a breakfast in your honor before the Ceremony. Celebrating our new and returning members is a source of great joy in this community.
Please feel free to ask questions at the Welcome Table or to contact our Membership Chair, Alonna Chatburn, or our Minister, Rev. Joe Rettenmaier if you have more questions.
