Pastoral Care

Pastoral and Spiritual Care

Pastoral and spiritual care is available for Evergreen members and is led by our minister. Rev. Joe is happy to schedule one-on-one pastoral visits with members. Pastoral visits are always confidential.

When a major life change unfolds, we encourage members or their partners, families, and friends to inform the minister directly. The minister can then be in conversation with them to help facilitate the caring support of the Fellowship that the member/family wishes, on their terms.

Typically, the minister works with a member’s requested Evergreen friends and other lay volunteers to extend the care of the Fellowship. Some examples of caring responses are: bringing prepared foods after a medical procedure or during an illness, giving rides to and from medical appointments, having visits by phone or in person for moral support, etc.

Some life situations where pastoral and spiritual care is often desired include:

  • Major life changes such as birth, adoption, loss of job, divorce, or retirement

  • Death of a family member, partner or friend

  • Health problems, illness, or hospitalization

  • Isolation due to age, disability, decrease of mobility, or other factors

  • Post-crisis intervention support

If you are experiencing any of these life situations or others and would like safe and confidential listening or support, please let our minister know.
